Where should we live? As I know many of you are not in Utah county I am sure that you will still have some helpful advice as most of you know someone who lives or has once lived in the "happy valley". We are open to all and as many suggestions as we can take.
How do we find a nice, cute place while we are in Oregon and will most likely have to decide on a place without seeing it first?
Should we brave the dorm life again?
Should we live close to campus or can we find a cheaper place further away?
What price range are we looking at?
Can we find a 3 bedroom for under $800?
Feel free to add any other helpful hints as well.
And PLEASE tell your friends as we would like as much help as we can get!
Thanks guys!

our family has a couple condos in orem... i'll check and see if any of them will be vacant. my dad likes to rent to people we know...
Wymount is probably your cheapest bet close to campus. It's family housing and not the nicest ever, but very inexpensive. Something to think about...
There are usually places to rent in and around our ward--up in the cute neighborhood where Grandma lives. Great wards, GREAT neighborhood. I'd have to investigate prices...
You could always apply for my job! Maybe you are totally uninterested, but it's a great way to save some money!
I'm still thinking about other ideas...
sooo many questions and one very easy solution. Come be our neighbors in Logan! My sister owns the duplex that we are living in and we can kick our hermit (and questionably gay) neighbor out so you guys can move in! I know, I know you can thank me later. Mark won't mind the 2.5 hour daily commute, right?
I would try to stay on campus. The prices are reasonable and they include your utilities. We went back for a semester for Jason to finish his Master's and tried to get on campus housing but we waited too long and we got stuck in a not so nice place for not so much money, but it cost so much for heat and electricity we could have been in 3 bedroom on-campus family housing for way cheaper.
Yeah, Congrats Mark! We're very excited you'll be close and we can get to know Emma! I'm not much help with the where to live, but Salt Lake is nice, have you thought about commuting? just kidding.
Hey, Traci. I was one of those BYUers who totally made fun of Wymount, but we actually lived there last summer for a couple months while my husband was teaching out there. It's not super nice, but those apartments are designed SO efficiently! And the community is really nice to have, especially with little kids. Plus it's super close to campus and affordable.
Well I have no ideas! But when are you moving? I'm assuming in the fall, is that right? congrats to Mark, that will be great for you guys! I'm excited for you!
OK so I am becoming more convinced that Wymount may be the best ummmmm maybe I should say the most affordable place for us.
But does anyone know what the deal is with getting an apartment there? They say their is no waiting list and that the only way to get an apartment is if it becomes available online and you catch it before someone else does. Is that weird to anyone else?
Well personally I think you should look into St.Louis. FAR cooler & it has some of the most amazing people you will ever be friends with. Definitely the most fun couple you will ever find & Emma will be closer to her boyfriend. Just a thought...
OOOH I am so excited. Congrats to you both! I think Anne is right and probably knows the most on this topic. I can't wait. Call me if you want me to go take pictures of something for you?
HELLO!!! What happened to being our neighbors in Logan?!? Forget Waymount or whatever it is called. Clayton even offered to babysit Emma (although he doesn't know that he offered yet)
Well I do know of a cute place in Orem it is a fourplex it only has two bedrooms but it is $550 a month and it is maybe a 7 minute drive to campus I don't know just a thought call me if you are interested I can get the phone number of the landlord for you guys. I have a friend that lives in one of them and they are super clean the landlord is very picky about cleanliness but I think that is a good thing anyways I can get more details and see if there will be anything opening by the time you get here if you want...
sorry girl, I've got nothing as I've never lived in Utah and wouldnt know the first place to start looking. Ihope you're getting some great advice from others though.
And again, we are so happy for you guys and CONGRATS Mark!!!!!!!
Good luck finding a place. If I here anything I will let you know. It is hard moving. I will ask my Aunt she lives close to there. K. Good luck!
My vote is that you stay here and Mark telecommutes to school... well I thought I would suggest it! We'll miss you!!
Congrats to Mark! :)
I'm a total stranger but I just stopped by for the first time to read your blog & thought I'd share a couple ideas.
I lived in BYU campus housing for 3 months but we really HATED it- especially in the summer (it was hot) & to BYUs credit we did have weird neighbors that yelled at each other a lot so that tainted our experience.
We live in a 3 bedroom place (it's a small duplex but plenty of room for my two kiddos & us, & it's $699 a month. So, it's possible to find a 3 bedroom place for not TOO much.
Good luck with the search!
Skip Utah, come to Santa Monica!! cheeehooo.. i miss you crazy kids.
I've been waiting to hear if you've moved yet down here yet. I really want to meet up some time. Good luck with everything!
